7.2.1.2 Simulation analysis

Figures 7.6 and 7.7 display the variation of energy fluctuation coefficients computed with the current in Figures 7.4 and 7.5 in the moving window according to time. As seen in Figures 7.6 and 7.7, the cross-scale energy fluctuation coefficients for internal faults and external faults are significantly different. A large amount of simulation studies indicate that for external faults, the higher frequency components are attenuated more severely due to the existence of bus stray capacitance. According to the different current features of external and internal faults, one can detect and identify the fault signals based on the energy distribution coefficient and energy fluctuation coefficient or cross-scale fluctuation coefficient.
